Installing Surround Sound System in your Home

 In Technology

Love watching movies? Want to create a theater like experience in your own home? Installing surround sound system for your home theater is one of the things you should do then. The right kind of speakers when installed properly can take the quality of home entertainment to a whole new level. Installation of surround speakers in your living or TV room, or the home theater room is not so difficult if you know what you are doing. But if you don’t, it is best to seek the help of a professional. Here are a few things that you should keep in mind when installing a surround sound system at home.

Picking the right location for the speakers

Choose the right place to set up your TV and your surround system. The speakers should be placed based on the labels. That means you should put the right speaker to the right corner and the left on the other corner. Place the main speaker facing you, preferably in line with the woofer. The right and left speakers should be at an angle of around 30 degrees to where you will be seated.

The surround speakers should be behind you or in line to your seating arrangement, but not too close. Set them against the corners of the wall behind you, at an equal distance from you.

Wiring

Setting up of the surround sound system involves plenty of wiring. Connect the wrong audio cable to the wrong speaker or inlet in the system and you will not get the desired experience. Be very careful about how you connect the speakers. Take time to read labels and then connect the woofer to the system carefully. Otherwise, you will not get the desired sound effects whether it is a movie, an audio file or anything else.

Also, take help of a technician to arrange the wires neatly. Messily arranged wires can get damaged soon and even cause electric shock.

Power outlets

Compared to most other consumer electronics, audio systems and home theater systems consume more power. So whichever room you wish to install the surround sound system in, make sure that the power outlets can support the wattage of the audio system. Neglecting the power outlets could lead to damage of the electronic system and cost you heavily.

If you have doubts about the installation, it is best to leave the task to an experienced technician, or seek help from a friend who knows how to.
